PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We are seeking parent volunteers to backfill for key bingo manager positions replacing parents who have graduating seniors. If you are looking for a challenging volunteer opportunity and are able to volunteer on a regular basis, or if you just have questions about what is required to be a bingo manager, please let us know. Our goal is to have parents step up early enough to provide overlap and training with the outgoing managers. Contact Steven Lazarus, Sandy Gibson, or Todd Beyer, if interested.
ABOUT BINGO
Since October 1999 (over 12 years), the Grafton Band has used BINGO as a means of fundraising, and BINGO is by far the biggest fundraiser. Raising funds through BINGO helps the band achieve its goal of being one of the best band programs in Virginia.
Funds raised from BINGO have been used to purchase uniforms, marching drills, flag equipment, new music and instruments, and annual band awards; to fund scholarships for graduating seniors and private lesson scholarships; and to offset fees for transportation to band competitions, the spring educational seminar costs for students, and annual band fees.
BINGO is run year round, and each BINGO session requires 18 volunteers (10 adults and 8 students)—volunteers are continuously needed. By volunteering 4 hours of your time, so much is given back to your band. BINGO is held the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday of each month (unless otherwise specified). The Grafton High Band Parent Association is currently contracted with the Chestnut Bingo Hall to run bingo on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday of each month. Dates are subject to change due to scheduling conflicts, and changes will be updated on this website as soon as possible. The game is played from 2:00pm to 5:00 pm. Three to five adult volunteers are needed at 11:30am to sell instants; remaining volunteers are expected to arrive between 12:30 and 12:45pm.
